13 WEEKS | BUMPDATE {02.18.2016}

Officially in the Second Trimester!

How far along: 13 weeks.

Size of baby: Plum.

Must have items:
  •  Lotion! My hands have been so incredibly dry these last few weeks, specifically my legs and hands.
  • Baths! Every night, before bed, I have to soak in a nice warm bath because if it's not my back killing me, then its my horrible headache and I definitely don't want to take medication every time I have a headache..
Sleep:

I love sleep. I can't get enough of it. I've heard, now that I'm in my second trimester, that it will ease up and I'll get some energy back, and I hope that's true but thankful for the sleep I was able to get during the first trimester.

Cravings:

Salty foods still. I love sushi, crawfish, popcorn, and pretzels. But I also LOVE veggies with ranch. Oh and water is a must!

Baby movement:

I haven't felt it yet, but at our appointment, I was able to see baby wiggling and waving it's little hands. It was seriously the cutest thing. I was even able to get a glimpse of the baby's sweet little nose.

Gender:

Baby was so stubborn yesterday and we weren't able to get a gender reading, but we are hoping that by the next appointment baby will cooperate and we will get to see what baby R will be.

Challenges this week:

Cooking. I hate cooking, it actually grosses me out. I'd rather eat out every night or just eat popcorn than cook food. Hopefully that will get better this trimester.

Best moment this week:

We had several best moments this week! First, seeing our sweet miracle baby! Although I didn't get to see very much, I was just very thankful to be able to see that baby is growing and moving and grooving. We bought baby's first two onesies, they are gender neutral, but they are cute! Also, seeing the difference between 10 and 13 weeks! The best moment at my doctor's appointment was finding out that the NT scan was perfect, mama has not gained any weight, my blood pressure is 120/80, and my doctor referred to my pregnancy as "perfect." I feel very blessed and it's just another sign that God's timing is always good, always right, and always perfect!

12 WEEKS | BUMPDATE {02.11.2016}

Last week of the first trimester!

How far along: 12 weeks.

Size of baby: Plum.

Must have items:
  •  Water! Maybe it's the fact that I love salty foods, but I can't seem to drink enough water. It feels like there is never enough time to drink all the water that I need.
  • Lotion! My skin, mostly hands and legs, have been so incredibly dry. The difficult thing is, I have to make sure not to use too much scented lotion as it tends to burn the dry skin.
Sleep:

Most nights, I am ready for bed around 8:30-9pm, I'm very tired during the day and mornings are extremely hard for me. Though I've noticed that I do get little bits of energy here and there, but it's not very often.

Cravings:

Skinny Girl popcorn is the bomb! I could eat that for days. Anytime I start to feel nauseated or hungry, I grab a bag, or two, and it settles my stomach. Crawfish are another love of mine. Though I've always been a lover of crawfish, I am from NOLA, but the love is even deeper now. Every chance I get, I want crawfish! Cooked sushi rolls sound delicious all the time, but I only want fresh cooked sushi rolls, not the kind you get from H-E-B sitting in the cold fridge.

Baby's movement:

I haven't felt any movement from baby yet, though I've heard that it will probably be a while before I feel anything. I definitely look forward to it, I especially look forward to seeing E get to feel the baby kick.

Gender:

I always thought I'd have "mother's instinct," and know right away what I'm having, but every single time I think I know, something changes my mind. I'm just going to be patient because, *fingers crossed*, if baby cooperates, we may be able to find out the gender at our next ultrasound!

Challenges this week:

Exhaustion. I feel so tired during the day, but at night, I can't seem to fall into a deep sleep to get a good night's sleep. I'm also having a hard time remembering things. I forget stuff constantly and feel like I can't ever find time to do the things I need to do. Work tends to take all of my energy, so by the time I get home, I just want to sit and rest, or go straight to sleep.

Best moment this week:

Making it to 12 weeks! What a blessing! Also, we moved into our new apartment and started setting up the nursery, so far, it looks great! I'm looking forward to decorating and getting it all set up and ready for when baby gets here.

11 WEEKS | BUMPDATE {02.05.2016}

How far along: 11 weeks.

Size of baby: Lime.

Must have items:
  •  A/C! Sometimes I am freezing cold, but recently, during the night I am ridiculously hot. I've heard from several preggo friends that your internal thermometer is thrown off and it's so true!
  • Warmth! I'm cold all the time, which is so unusual because when I was taking Clomid, and even after I stopped, I was hot all the time. Although I haven't taken Clomid since September of 2015, I would still feel hot until I got pregnant, and now I'm freezing.
Sleep:

Right now, sleep is so crucial for me. I feel so exhausted all the time, especially when I am working and no matter how much I get, I still want more. Though , I'll admit that the other night I was so deep in sleep that I didn't even know E came home!

Cravings:

I'm still craving salty things. At the moment, crawfish and shaggy dog rolls sound amazing all the time. Thankfully, last weekend, E and I went out for a date night and I got a shaggy dog roll and I swear I ate it so slow because I was really enjoying every bite. I probably could have eaten two more of those rolls. Now I just need to get my crawfish fix.

Baby's movement:

I haven't felt any movement yet, but from what I've read, the baby is jumping, and stretching, and moving around. I'm looking forward to my next appointment because I just know that baby will be dancing around for us.

Gender

Although I'm not partial to either boy or girl, I just want healthy, I have this feeling that baby is a boy. Not sure why, but every time I think about baby, or day dream about baby, it's a boy. Not to mention, I did the "Old Wives Tales" and pretty much every single one pointed to boy. It doesn't matter, I will be thrilled either way. The goal is not the gender, the goal is getting a full-term, healthy baby in my arms.

Challenges this week:

Not getting enough sleep, finding a comfortable position to sleep in, nausea that comes and goes, and not having the energy to do the things that I am supposed to be doing, such as packing for our upcoming move next weekend, we have not packed a single thing.

Best moment this week:

Knowing that I one week closer to making through the first trimester. I cannot even explain how excited we are to be pregnant with a healthy baby. It's just absolutely a dream come true!
