Adoption Checklist {04.09.2014}

So there were quite a few people interested in finding out what the adoption process checklist details, so I thought I would go ahead and share with you the three checklists we recieved. ***Please note: not all adoption agencies are alike, you may not have the same checklists as we do, this is just what we have as requirements for our particular agency***

Checklist 1 is just a brief overview of what we need to do:
1) Attend information session - check
2) Submit a complete application - in progress
3) Complete required training - will being at the end of April
4) Participate in Home Study
5) Recieve approval to be an adoptive home
6) Welcome child into home

So that was just a brief overall summary, this next checklist is more detailed and really goes over what they are looking for in adoptive families.

Checklist 2 is a yes/no checklist:
-attend required training
-participate in home study
-provide references
-meet finanical needs
-at least 21 years of age
-be married for two years

Those were just a few of the 30-something yes/no requirements, I thought those were extremely important because not many people know that you have to be married for two years or provide references.

The last checklist details all the paperwork and documents needed to apply.  I will post just a few of the ones that stood out to me.

Checklist 3 is just a regular checklist:
-copies of birth certificates, driver's license, social security card, marriage license, high school diploma, paycheck stubs, auto insurance, photos of everyone in the house, background check, finger prints, and driving records

So as you can see, there is quite a lot that goes into the adoption process and there are a lot of things that are needed, but I feel like in the end all the hard work will pay off when you get to welcome a child into your home to be apart of your family forever.

Please let me know if you have any questions. If you or someone you know is adopting, please share your story!

God Bless,

Megan
